Advocating for Circular Economy at GPCA's Plastics Conference

We recognize the importance of transitioning to a circular economy. This approach not only addresses environmental challenges but also fosters sustainable economic growth. By rethinking how we design, use, and dispose of products, we can significantly reduce waste, lower emissions, and create new job opportunities.

Noor Balfaqeeh at GPCA's 14th Plastics Conference

On April 21st, Noor Balfaqeeh, our Head of Corporate Affairs & Communication at Unilever and Chair of the National Circular Packaging Committee, took the stage at Gulf Petrochemicals & Chemicals Association’s (GPCA) 14th Plastics Conference in Riyadh. As a speaker and host during the session titled “A Multi-Stakeholder Dialogue: Policymakers’ Perspectives - Driving Sustainable Regulations & Industry Collaboration for a Circular Economy,” Noor shared valuable insights on the urgent need to accelerate the shift toward a circular economy in the region.

In her remarks, Noor emphasized the progress made by the National Circular Packaging Committee since its inception in 2022. She highlighted the importance of fostering partnerships across various sectors to build a sustainable packaging ecosystem in Saudi Arabia. Noor also addressed the regulatory momentum across the GCC, the significance of Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR), and the profound environmental and economic impacts of circularity—such as reducing emissions, cutting waste, and creating thousands of jobs.
